Trent Carlson - Writer/Director/Producer

Anagram's founding partner Trent Carlson is a writer, director and producer who wears different hats depending on the project. Whatever his role, Carlson adheres to the belief that the script is the most important aspect of a successful film. It is this dedication to plot excellence, character development, and authentic dialogue that is the hallmark of every Anagram Pictures project.

This foundation helped drive the success Carlson enjoyed with his debut feature and Anagram's second feature film, The Delicate Art of Parking. The critically-acclaimed comedy premiered at the 2003 Montreal World Film Festival where it won the Golden Zenith Award for Best Film, then went on to screen at more than two dozen film festivals around the world. After winning several additional festival awards, the film was an instant hit at the box office when it opened in theatres across Canada in spring 2004. The DVD of the film is distributed by LionsGate in Canada.

Trent, along with Mary Anne Waterhouse, is producing Anagram's latest feature, The Thaw, a horror / thriller starring Val Kilmer and Martha MacIsaac, which is currently in post-production. Carlson produced Anagram partner Andrew Currie's first feature Mile Zero with Blake Corbet and acted as a Co-producer and second unit director on FIDO, (starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Billy Connolly, Tim Blake Nelson, Henry Czerny and Dylan Baker).

Carlson seeks out theme-driven stories that cross borders, add freshness to a genre, and have international appeal. He is currently in active development on several feature film projects including the comedy Shooting Blanks, which he is co-writing with Grant Buday and is attached to direct.
